Christmas Countdown 2015 with El Vez

El Vez is the latino comic impersonator of Elvis. He's also a very sexy dude, as you can see in the video!

Wishing everyone a very warm little Christmas and a Feliz Navidad from the bottom of my heart!

Bette Midler Arrives on Our 2015 Christmas Countdown!

This was an ideal song for Bette Midler to sing on her 2006 Cool Yule Christmas album. After all, she was raised in Hawaii!

This is a cover song originally recorded by Bing Crosby and The Andrew Sisters.

Beautifully arranged and sung, led in by "optimistic voices"! Simply click on the Youtube link below.

Enjoy, as my 2015 Christmas Countdown continues!

Christmas Countdown 2015 with Frost on the Moon

Big band leader Artie Shaw and vocalist Peg LaCentra make a wonderful team on this winter classic I simply adore.

When I was dj-ing, I would always add this to my sets for a retro end to the night. It was a big favorite.

Keep warm and keep spring in your hearts as my Christmas Countdown this year!

From 1936....

Happy Hanukkah on My Christmas Countdown!

Happy Hanukkah from my Christmas Countdown because here we don't discriminate! Celebrate all the season's holidays and spread peace!

Love this spoof from the clever and witty "Doc Mo She."

Last night, I saw John Waters at the City Winery, NYC. He told us how he'd send e-mails to film producers and sign off with his initials, JW. But autocorrect changed that to "Best Wishes, Jew!" "No wonder I didn't get any replies from Hollywood!" Waters added.

And pass another potato pancake, please! He's kind of cute! I wonder if he has any money?

Christmas Countdown Continues with Jimmy James as Bette Davis

I want to wish ya a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart! Feliz Navidad!

Here's impressionist Jimmy James as Bette Davis singing "Feliz" on our Christmas Countdown this year.

Season's greetings!

Lene Lovich on My 2015 Christmas Countdown

Lene Lovich's "New Toy" became associated with the holiday season, officially, when Target used the song  in its tv ads in the 1990s.

The song, ironically, is about material addiction and was written by Thomas Dolby ("She Blinded Me with Science"). Lene blinds us with neediness in this tune.

Upbeat New Age dance music, Lene performed this at clubs internationally, even at NYC's Studio 54!

For the crass materialism in all of us. By the way, I'm sick of the Hoover!

Gee Whiz, It's Christmas on My 20015 Christmas Countdown

This holiday song is seriously cute! Carla Thomas is known as The Queen of Memphis soul, but she had a number of '60s girl group-sounding songs in her repertoire.

Happy holidays from Buddy B as our 2015 Christmas Countdown continues with "Gee Whiz, It's Christmas!"

2015 Christmas Countdown Starring Divine

I better get them cha-cha heels this Christmas!

It wouldn't be the holiday season without this sequence from John Waters' Female Trouble starring Divine as Dawn Davenport.

"Not on Christmas, not on Christmas!"

"Nice girls don't wear cha-cha heels!"

Happy holidays!

2015 Christmas Countdown Continues with Diana Ross & The Supremes

The Supremes will brighten up your holidays with this original tune from Motown. Miss Ross' voice is perfectly suited for lead vocals on this number.

"Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Me" is such a cute and irresistible girl-group number for the holidays, guaranteed to make your season bright!

Joan Collins on My 2015 Christmas Countdown

This sequence is part of the 1972 horror anthology, Tales from the Crypt, based on the old E.C. comic books. The film starred Ralph Richardson, Peter Cushing and Joan Collins,  The comics were later the basis of a weekly HBO tv series.

"And All Through the House" is Ms Collins' episode in the film. She is wonderful. She plays a woman who's just murdered her husband. She has to work hard to make the whole thing look like an accident. In the meanwhile, there's a psycho dressed like Santa on the loose. Joan's got a lot to deal with. See for yourselves...! Lots of suspense and scares.

Ronnie Spector Kicks Off My 2015 Christmas Countdown

Five years ago, Ronnie Spector released a Christmas e.p. of five songs, entitled Best Christmas Ever, on her own Bad Girls label. Great songs sung by an iconic rock star.

"Light One Candle" is, in its way, a perfect kick-off for this year's Countdown because it's equally applicable for Hannukah as it is for Christmas. It's a beautiful song, even as a purely secular but spiritual one nonetheless. Click on link below.

Peace.
