A little bleak news this weekend as Masterbeat will cease download sales as of midnight tonight (Sunday). The news came only this past Friday & I'll truly miss it. It was an official, legitimate dance-music-oriented download-for-pay site that featured so many independently produced club artists on top of the heavy hitters we can all locate on iTunes. Thank you, Masterbeat, for your 3 1/2 years of great music downloads. Hopefully, someone can fill the void left by your closing.
Even sadder is the passing of legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who died from complications from a stroke. The artist, who started as one of the original members of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, can be heard on two tracks off Lady Gaga's recent "Born This Way" album. His contribution to the world of popular music cannot be forgotten or underestimated.
