Miss Shirley MacLaine is our eternal gamine who has survived in Hollywood since 1955, when she was in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry.
She has proved herself, through a long and glorious career, to be adept at comedy, drama, suspense and horror films.
She has starred in numerous hits including The Apartment, Irma La Douce, Steel Magnolias, Postcards from the Edge, The Possession of Joel Delaney and much more.
Ms MacLaine has also become known for her New Age beliefs for which she has been criticized. Nonetheless, she has not been dissuaded from them.
She was married once and that ended in divorce after nearly 40 years. She has one daughter, Sachi. Sachi wrote an autobiography titled Lucky Me: My Life with and without My Mom, Shirley MacLaine. Shirley read this and promptly cut her ungrateful daughter from her will. She also publicly called the book "virtually all fiction." This Mommie Dearest wannabe backfired badly.
But Happy Belated Birthday, Shirley, now 82 years young! She shares her birthday with Barbra Streisand and is Warren Beatty's sister.
