The Blob: My Halloween Countdown Continues
In 1958, Paramount released a low-budget sci-fi film directed at the teen market with elements borrowed from Rebel Without a Cause. Featuring a voraciously all-consuming gelatinous life form from outer space, it was called The Blob. It starred a relative newcomer, actor Steve(n) McQueen, whose co-starring love interest was assayed by Aneta Cors(e)aut, best known for her recurring role on tv's "The Andy Griffith Show."
The movie's title song was composed by another relative newcomer: Burt Bacharach (with Hal David's brother, Mack David). Both film and novelty tune (released as a 45 rpm single) became huge hits that year. Groove to the song. I've linked to The Blob's title sequence from Youtube to help us get our Halloween on.
