Of course I'm referring to the Shangri-las (or The Shangs as they were popularly referred to), the '60s girl-group from Queens, NY. Their biggest hit was "Leader of the Pack," but "Out in the Streets," though a Shindig Pick of the Week, was not a huge success at the time (1965). Nevertheless, it developed a cult rep (even covered by Blondie) and may have been a musical influence on Bruce Springsteen (listen to its instrumental build-up). Produced by Leiber & Stoller ("Is That All There Is?"). One of my '60s faves.
