My Halloween Countdown Continues with Sonique

Tonight's music video on my ongoing Halloween Countdown is about casting a spell. Kind of a sick, little, possessive love spell. "Because you're mine," the song goes. Ooo, isn't that creepy? Guess it depends on whether you're the one being put under the spell or the one casting it. "I Put a Spell on You" was originally done by 1950s rocker, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, and was his biggest hit. Of course, when your repertoire includes numbers like "Constipation Blues," that may not say much from a commercial point of view.

Anyway, around 40 years later, Sonique (whose big number was "It Feels So Good," a monumental '90s hit, both on the club scene and radio, internationally) revived the song as a credible dance floor number. The arrangement sweeps her voice up in a vortex of synthesized strings and remains truly exciting. So get under its spell tonight & enjoy the Full Vocal Serious Mix of "I Put a Spell on You" as we head toward Halloween.
