Nina Hagen's Scary New York

New York City can be scary, especially when none other than the scary Nina Hagen evokes its name. In this Giorgio Moroder-produced dance hit from 1983, Nina's operatic voice and punk 'tude tells us we are going into the night on a dizzying disco round ("The newest club is opening up!"). It's October, it's Friday, it's time to dance, with Halloween on the horizon at weekend's end. A perfect tune for my Halloween Countdown and for any Halloween party because, on any given night, New York City is a town full of tricks and treats. There are the rats, dehumanized zombie commuters, bugs, raving psychos and so much more!
