Sikh & Ye Shall Find

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!!!

Got that? It was National Sikh Day in NYC on April 26 with a fabulous parade in Manhattan from 39th to 26th Streets & Madison Avenue.

This is an annual event organized by the Sikh Cultural Society, 95-30, 118 Street, Richmond Hill, NY.

"All FUN & Frolic events shall be there," wrote the organizers. "Keertan, Gatkaa, NAAM simran, Guru Kaa Langar (Community Kitchen). FREE VEGETARIAN FOOD & Non-Alcoholic Beverages FOR ALL. Many top ELECTED PUBLIC OFFICIALS and INTERFAITH leaders will be there!!!!
Please bring your family, friends, known ones & unknown ones. Please pass on this information to others too."

A lovely and peaceable event recommended for all in our city of diversity. Mayor Bill DeBlasio was prominently there to celebrate it! The event celebrates "Vaisakhi, the anniversary of the origin of Khalsa and the first Amrit initiation ceremony and takes place every April. The NYC Sikh Day Parade is hosted by the Sikh Cultural Society of New York. The annual Nagar Kirtan event includes a float bearing the Guru Granth Sahib the Sikh's holy scripture, floats and marchers representing by various gurdwaras, demonstrations given by Gatka troupes and langar, free vegetarian food and non alcoholic drinks for every one," according to its press. And, hey! You don't need to be Norma Desmond to put on a turban!

Happy Spring, Vaisakhi, Passover, Easter! We all celebrate life and rebirth together. Love, Peace & Happiness to All.
