Not be be outdone by the Miley Cyrus/VMA scandal, Lindsay Lohan was a no-show at the premiere of her supposed "comeback" vehicle, The Canyons, at yesterday's Venice Film Festival. "In the movie, Lohan, 27, stars as an aspiring actress who finds herself in a destructive relationship with a Los Angeles producer, played by porn star James Deen," explains ABC News. The film is reportedly explicitly erotic with Lohan doffing her clothes for her art.
Perez Hilton wrote that Paul Schrader (American Gigolo, Cat People), the film's director, "had no trouble slamming the gurl with more shade than a solar eclipse...." Perez added, "He can't say the world didn't warn him!!!"
"For the last 16 months, I've been hostage -- by my own choosing -- to a very talented but unpredictable actress," the director said. He said the actress/celebutante campaigned hard to be in the film but couldn't deliver in the end.
Shrader told the press that Lohan found the production "exhausting." "One of her problems as an actor is she has a very hard time faking things," Shrader added. Yowzer!
La LiLo has been plagued by legal and substance abuse problems. She last got out of rehab in July. Her 2012 Lifetime tv movie, Liz and Dick, in which she assayed the role of movie star Elizabeth Taylor, was a big, hyped-up fizzle. The New York Times accused the actress of "sleepwalking" through her scenes while Entertainment Weekly mentioned her "frozen face" and "blank stare."
