Cine Beaverhausen: Deadpool

Deadpool is an action film, laced with good humor but nothing memorable or worth rushing out for.

Maybe I'm too old for this sort of thing. Certainly, its intended audience is a much younger demographic.

There is an interesting homoerotic frisson between Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Serbia's Stefan Kapicic who provides the voice (and heart and soul, really) of Colossus.

But, in the end, this is just another violent, mindless action film. Ryan's such a cutie but his character gets disfigured early on, so he has to don an entire superhero costume -- that looks like Spiderman's without the web pattern. Completely logical, right?

This is all very typical Marvel superhero stuff. Fantasy for the boys. Crime doesn't pay in the end -- we already got that message before. I certainly wouldn't sit through this big bore a second time. I give it three yawns way up!
