2013 Christmas Countdown with Cyndi Lauper & The Hives

Love this song, "A Christmas Duel," by Cyndi Lauper and Swedish rock band The Hives. It's like Christmas with George and Martha (of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf; not the Washingtons) meet Phil Spector's Wall of Sound. Merry Friggin' Christmas!

Pearl Bailey on My 2013 Christmas Countdown

Pearl Bailey expresses my sentiments exactly in this wonderful Christmas song, "Five Pound Box of Money."

Pointer Sisters Coming to Town for My 2013 Christmas Countdown

Throwback Thursday on My Christmas Countdown

I adore this 1936 number as much as I love marcelled hairdos, "There's Frost on the Moon," especially at Christmas. So swing out, sisters, here's Artie Shaw featuring Peg LaCentra  (pictured above) coming at ya from my private time tunnel! Hope you dig this as much as I do.

Christmas with Spottiswoode & His Chelsea Boys on My 2013 Countdown

The song "Chelsea Boys" was first brought to my attention by the band's p.r. person, Bernadette Quigley, with this later, beautiful video by the artist Maria Eugenia making it a sweet visual perennial. Merry Christmas to all you Chelsea boys and Chelsea girls, and to everyone else the world round!

No Christmas Countdown of mine could go without this song.

A modern classic in my humble opinion.

Please check out my exclusive interview with Spottiswoode & His Enemies, as well, at Blab It to Beaverhausen. (We even discuss "Chelsea Boys.")
