The second season of How to Get Away with Murder was very powerful, dramatic and almost Shakespearian in terms of its plot complications at times.
Viola Davis again turned in an Emmy-worthy performance this season Turns out Annalise is Wes's birth mother, which he only learned after he shot her in the stomach! The British Alfred Enoch is not only a brilliant young actor, doing the American accent masterfully, he's nice eye candy, too, and often has shirtless moments. The Harry Potter kid is all grown up.
Cicely Tyson was back for the season finale as Viola's mom. Wonderful seeing them together again at the end of the season! Great chemistry and acting tours de force! Tonight found Annalise in Tennessee with her mom and family, which opened old emotional wounds.
As my friend Kevin predicted, a series regular was dispatched from the show ~ in an ugly way, too.
And Framke Janssen is always a pleasure, featured prominently throughout this year, though not in the finale .
The show came to a gratifying close tonight. Shonda Rhimes is a brilliant producer and the writers are top-notch, driving the ever-complicated storyline. Great show, great finale!
Looks like my Thursday nights are free again until the fall. A mixed blessing.

Video Beaverhausen: More Murder with Emmy & Golden Globe Award Winner Viola Davis
Wow-dee-wow wow! HtGAwM was full of shocks and surprises, especially a lesbian love scene and the finale! I can;t say more without spoiling things if you haven't seen this yet. especially regarding the whodunnit of last season's killing off one of its regular characters.
The storyline of this show never fails to amaze us. I can't even count the number of woohoos my friend Kevin and I hooted out in unison during tonight's unravelings.
Shonda Rimes is indeed a maestro of scripting. Viola Davis, hot off her award wins for her starring role in this series, never ceases to excel at her craft. The finale left us gasping!
It was so good to see the ensemble cast again, most especially the hot hot hot Wes Gibbons. We could not imagine more twists and turns in the story tonight. Dutch actress Famke Janssen joined the cast in this episode. The episode was sexy and strong as it returned to its dual-storyline format: the ongoing murder/suspense/soap opera scenario and the courtroom drama to get resolved within a single episode.
Already looking forward to nest week. This is tv-series drama at its best!

Video Beaverhausen: How to Get Away with Murder
You is complicated. You is brilliant. You is important. Tony Award winner, twice Oscar nominated (Doubt, The Help) actress Viola Davis brings her significant acting talent and dramatic presence to network television as she is the lead figure in the ABC-tv ensemble drama, How to Get Away with Murder.
It's a stylish and cleverly edited show in which Ms Davis portrays no-nonsense, though very three-dimensional, attorney Annalise Keeting. She occupies this part wonderfully. We say, give her the Best Actress Emmy now because no bitch is going to top this!
Not so much the expected Murder She Wrote-like weekly mystery as it is a courtroom drama/soap opera, the show offers many melodramatic plot threads that taunt and tantalize. The ending of tonight's premiere episode, particularly, titillated us to to want to see more. Tune in; this is quite a powerful hour-long trip (commercials included).
Viola is glam. Light years away from her usually brilliant but dowdy characterizations. Very tailored designer outfits and a sophisticated wig that rival Cher's in the movie Suspect, in which it was Cher who was a high-powered attorney.
Highly hyped, saturation advertisement, I expect the series will do well in the ratings. We'll soon see.
