Are you afraid of the dark? it Follows preys on that fear. Yes, there's a monster out there and your car has broken down. This 2014 thriller relies on suspense and thrills rather than gore, which is the latest trend., thankfully.
It Follows preys on your fear of the dark to great effect. Low-budget but technically superb, you'll want to follow It Follows as it's not a predictable horror film by any means.
Strong performances and technical aspects carry this film along nicely. I doubt your attention will slacken throughout if you like this sort of chiller. Good for a chilly late night at home. Hold on to your comforter!
This movie was presented at Cannes & was nominated for -- even awarded -- several awards.
So, heads up horror fans. I distinctly recommend this for you! It's a classic ~ and a keeper on video.

Cine Beaverhausen: Buddy B Enters The Forest
The Forest is an American horror film set in Japan's Suicide Forest. The premise is promising and the film poses an interesting question: Is this about ghosts or schizophrenia?
A woman goes to the aforementioned locale, looking for her "twin sister," if indeed there is such a person.
The movie just finished its run at our local Alpine Cinema. It's goes down well with popcorn, though, admittedly, it's rather tepid although it has its scary moments.
What interests me is how the latest horror releases have returned to pure scares and the supernatural rather than to gore and slasher themes, thankfully. At the outset, The Forest holds promise in terms of character development and setting but then punks out on us.
Still, it's an earnest effort and worth watching for horror film fans.

Cine Beaverhausen: The Boy
The horror thriller The Boy is still holding in there at local cinemas. It's about an American nanny in England, hired by a British couple to tend to their son Brahms -- who happens to be a doll. They leave her alone to care for him with a list of instructions she is told she must follow.
Creepy premise and several scares along the way for horror-film mavens. Lots of Gothic atmosphere.
The Boy is memorable, refreshingly original and very entertaining right to the bitter end.
Sturdy direction by William Brent Bell, original script by Stacey Menear, starring Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans. The entire cast shines in this eerie film that does not rely on sadistic gore effects for its scares. It was released January 22 by STX Entertainment and shot in British Columbia, Canada, actually.
Just about 90-minutes long, this is a trim and tidy sort of thriller with a surprise ending. Recommended very highly to fans of this sort of spooky kind of thing.
