Yes, Bette Davis goes twistin' the night away with this rock number from What Ever Happened to Baby Jane!
This was a rare release to promote the movie at the time.
Enjoy it on my 2015 Halloween Countdown!
You may recognize the music as the number Davis' obnoxious next-door teenaged neighbor (played by Davis' daughter) blasts on her record player in the film).
And feel free to do the Twist as you watch!

Halloween Countdown 2015: Cher Zombie Mix
Cher has certainly been revived from the dead enough times to make this song on my Halloween Countdown just perfect for the season. Stevers62 does another expert remix for Halloween time!
We've all heard it said that, after an atomic blast, there would be nothing left but cockroaches and Cher!
She is indestructible. Almost inhuman. Here she is in all her fabulousness with soundbites from George Romero's Night of the Living Dead, for your latest Halloween Countdown entertainment.
Do you believe in life after... death? You haven't seen the last of Cher!

Video Beaverhausen: Vincent Price and the Theater of Blood!
Vincent Price entered his campy period with great panache in Theater of Blood, 1974. It was made just after his Dr. Phibes films.
I have great fond memories of Theater of Blood, as I saw it in a movie house with my Mom and brother, when they came out to Colorado for my graduation commencement. We were VP fans, and this was a film we all enjoyed immensely.
In this movie, smartly directed by Douglas Hickcox with great style, Price plays a hammy Shakespearean actor (ironically not much of a stretch) who jumps off a bridge after his performance of King Lear is roasted by the London critics.
Believed dead, he returns to take revenge, killing each of the offending critics according to death scenes in the plays of William Shakespeare. Take notice, reviewers: bad notices can be hazardous to your well-being.
Price met future wife Coral Browne, who is cast in this film as one of the ill-fated critics. The great supporting cast features the divine Diana Rigg as Price's daughter (and partner in crime). Ian Hendry, Robert Morley, Harry Andrews, Jack Hawkins, Milo O'Shea and even Diana Dors amongst other great UK actors, all playing this straight-faced -- and straight-laced!
A great treat for the Halloween season. On dvd and download.

Halloween Countdown: Mondo Elvis!
Here's a Halloween bonus for your Sunday night.
What's truly scary about this documentary short (1/2 hour long) is how dumb and crazy people in this country can be. The film focuses on the weird and wacky folk who are Elvis devotees. They're obviously clinically insane, and obsessed. Sadly, these guys sometimes even go to the polls and vote!
So many favorite moments of the interviews with delusional morons who are Elvis fanatics, impersonators and other freaks of nature giving their lives up to "the King of Rock & Roll." You just have to see it to believe it.
This film's full of testimonies as hilarious and absurd as they are heartbreaking. Watch and be afraid... be VERY afraid. Mondo Elvis was made in 1984 by Tom Corboy. The people seen in this film are probably, if still alive, packing serious heat in these open-carry days.
Elvis died seven years before this film was made. This is the true American horror story! Definitely the dark side of the United States.
I have this on VHS.
Below is the entire 30-minute video in all its jumpsuit glory.

Halloween Countdown 2015 with Betty Boop!
Why this cartoon ended up banned is beyond my comprehension. It's a fabulous and beautifully animated Max Fleischer cartoon that deserves to be seen by all.
Surrealistic and funny, it just had to help kick off my Halloween Countdown this year. It certainly is a cute embrace of the holiday.
It's impossible for me to see the Boop character or hear Mae Questel's voice and not think of Cyndi Lauper. Let me know what you think.
Enjoy this cartoon classic and Happy Halloween!

Buddy Beaverhausen's Excellent Halloween Adventure
When I travel up to Sandy Hook these days, I'm forever reminded that gun control is the real American horror story! Yet that's where I connected in Connecticut for my Halloween get-together with my coven (Tracey and Merv) this weekend. I won't even mention the horror of Saturday afternoon's commute to get to this Final Destination.
Tracey and husband, Merv, always put me up in style and I am so eternally grateful to their hospitality. There were some cheese and crackers after the prolonged commute; the bewitching, home-made lasagne for dinner; the very comfy guest bed and our movie marathon on big-screen tv. Can it get better than that? I, for one, think not.
Our film line-up included Whoopi's Moms Mabley documentary (HBO) , the macabre (Halloween appropriate) Suddenly Last Summer and Hocus Pocus.
The final title is a Bette Midler vehicle from 1993. Bette openly loves it, it's become a family Halloween fave and is on Facebook's witch-movie top ten list.
My opinion is that that film is best seen by tweens and teens, though Bette dominates this Disney doozer like nobody's business if she do! The special effects are still pretty state-of-the-art in this day and age. The acting is all-around solid (including the young ones). Bette's "Put a Spell on You" muscal number is classic, certainly. And I adore any movie in which I can lay my eyes on the late 6'5" cutie, Charles Rocket.
The sequence with Garry and Penny Marshall is singularly hilarious! More reasons to watch than not, though this is one of those films that doesn't know when to end. It seemed to have at least three more climaxes than necessary, though Buddy B can never have enough climaxes, personally, as a select few may well be aware.
Early afternoon today, I traveled back to NYC and bought the latest pre-releases of Aretha and Annie Lennox albums at Rebel Rebel in the Village, then visited John Azelvandre's exhibit at the Gowanus art event. Kowabungus, Gowanus, and Ungoowa! It is always a delight to see John's work and his evolution as a painter.
Asked how his art has evolved since I last went to his last exhibit, John told me that he's gotten much more into physicality and water in his very expressionistic style. You can see more of it below:

Halloween Countdown 2013 with the Complete Brian De Palma Film, "Sisters"
Since it's Saturday, I thought I'd present you with something a bit more epic on this year's Countdown. I started this by-now holiday tradition in 2013 by posting the full 1960 British horror classic, City of the Dead, via YouTube. Tonight, it's the full-length 1973 Brian DePalma flick, Sisters.
Sisters was a breakthrough film for the director as well as for the film's star, Margot Kidder. The supporting cast is wonderful: Jennifer Salt, Charles Durning, William Finley, Barnard Hughes, Dolph Sweet. I love DePalma's directorial flourishes, including his brilliant use of split-screen technique. The Hitchcock influence, especially via Psycho are unmistakable. Bernard Herrman even does the music score, for crying out loud! And it's set (and shot) on Staten Island! Lisle Wilson makes a handsome, charming leading man. Love his line, when he offers to take Kidder home and asks her where she lives, and she tells him it's Staten Island: "I thought you said you live in New York City!" And catch Olympia Dukakis in a bit part.
So bring out the pumpkin pie and candy corn, relax & watch this clever, scary, suspenseful and ever-so-tongue-in-cheek classic, a Beaverhausen top pic. And never were there such devoted sisters ~~ when it comes to mayhem! Or, as the poster blurb exclaims: "What the Devil hath joined together let no man cut asunder!"

Psycho Goes Disco on My Halloween Countdown 2013
Clever version of the Bernard Herrmann theme from Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho." This special dancefloor rendition and mix is produced by Zyrko (yes, Zyrko goes Psycho) and is perfect for your high holiday (that is, Halloween, of course) parties! Also perfect for dancing in your shower! Or imagine you're at a house party at the Bates Motel. You're dancing with Norman, who's kind of shy but cute, and Mother isn't feeling herself today! Butcher knife optional.

Evelyn Thomas' Masquerade on Halloween Countdown
After her international success with "High Energy," Ms Evelyn Thomas and producer/ songwriter Ian Levine followed it up with "Masquerade." Perfect for your masquerade party this Halloween, dahlings, to be sure! A very Halloweeny and tres gay video; quite lavish for the time and full of masks and seasonal touches. You're going to love it as much as I do as we tick down to Halloween night here in Beaverhausenville.
By the way, I love Ms Thomas' very grand hand gestures and diva stances, not to mention her distinctive and powerful voice. More is more! Love Levine's lyrics, too: "What good is talent if you're crying out loud?" Ah, yes, my dahlings, I know that so, so very well. Happy Halloween!

Thanks to All from Dj Buddy Beaverhausen!
By Greenwich Mean Time, it's officially November 1. I'm coming through the storm in New York City amongst many others, lucky to still have electricity and running water, and not having to deal with any flooding from Hurricane Sandy's big blow-out. My sincerest heartfelt prayers go out to everyone dealing with the hardships left by the "Frankenstorm," and I wish everyone affected, along the coast, the hope and strength it takes getting through this.
My post, "Cher Sex Cult Horror" posted less than a week ago, is already #10 on my 10 Most Popular Posts. http://djbuddybeaverhausen.blogspot.com/2012/10/cher-sex-cult-horror.html Seems to have captured your torrid imaginations! Actually, I'm very grateful to all who read, enjoyed and boosted this post via your blog hits in so short a time.
Thanks to increased viewership in Poland, Australia and Italy. And, of course, to my continued strong support in the USA, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Brazil and Mexico. Love out to all!
And now, it being November 1 GMT, I'm very happy to announce that the total views of my blog for the month of October 2012 was a record 8,958; so close to the 9K mark! My previous high was in July, at 8,872. It's always a thrill for me to see my blog thriving and growing.
Tonight, Halloween in the USA, I just have to tell you how touched I was to arrive home this evening in Brooklyn, and to see the children lined up at the deli downstairs, awaiting free candy. Hassan, son of the deli owner, Tony, is a high school senior and he was dressed as Michael Jackson in The Wiz (or so I assumed), with an afro wig and burlap cap. But what moved me was the realization of children's dreams and hopes symbolized in their costumes. Whether it was a fairy princess or a werewolf, they were their higher selves, representing the inner strength and beauty of who they dared to become for one night.
We are all still costumed children every day in our everyday clothes, striving to be our higher selves. Don't give up that hope, that dream.
I hope everyone had a fun and Happy Halloween and, again, thanks to all! Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts on my posts. Love ~~ Dj Buddy Beaverhausen
ps: To those struggling through the aftermath of the hurricane, I dedicate this to you:

Lions and Tigers and Dolls, Oh My!
Hello, fans of high anxiety. And what are the scariest memories of your life now that Halloween's just a week away?
Years ago, I went on vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I stayed at the gay resort, Arcos Blancos, in Condado, not far from the beach. The accommodations, at the time, were very nice, the resort being just a few blocks from the beach. Ah, the sun, the sea, the salt air! The fucking with fellow tourists and locals! Mi bedroom es tu bedroom, as they say.
That's where I met Richard, a banker from NYC. We even had a torrid, little affair back in Manhattan after the vacation. Unfortunately, I wasn't latino enough for him, in the end, though I tried to talk like Rita Moreno in West Side Story. ("A boi like dat, he keel your bruddah!") I was dark-haired and petite, and Richard was blond and sprawling. He was a Republican and thought my marching on Pride Day was "radical" (and not in a good sense). Hence, the dynamics of our very hot sex together (talk about your love/hate intimate relationships), though I swear I was always topping from the bottom. Or, as we called it then, "buns power." (I even snapped a lover's unwanted cock up my ass once, but that's another story. Yes, you can break a boner.)
Still, that's not even the scary part! It was Richard who decided we should visit "Isla de las Cabras" (Island of the Goats), which he read about in some tourist magazine. It seemed, from the article, to be an unspoiled little paradise not far from San Juan. I envisioned good times on a blanket over the sand with, hopefully, no sand in the Vaseline.
The ferry dropped us off and it would be two hours before another arrived. Perfect horror movie set-up? Thank you, because there were only the two of us who got off the ferry which then went on to dock at other islands.
We saw trees, strung up with dismembered dolls, rise up before us, hiking through that surreal jungle.
We trudged onward, ever onward. It was clear this was no Isla Bonita, honeys, right from the get-go with the bizarre dolls tied or nailed to trees, like some ritualistic warning we didn't heed. I remember that, like a heroine in a '50s horror flick, I grabbed onto stalwart Richard's bicep.
Lions and tigers and dolls, oh my! But, funny, I don't remember seeing any goats.
I wanted to go back to the dock. Richard wanted to recklessly forge ahead. We came across a clearing. A primitive village of island natives living in ramshackle hovels and tents, playing percussion on tin cans, viewing us suspiciously if not hungrily. I was reminded of the movie, Suddenly Last Summer, with Liz and Monty. Not good, if you recall how that played out.
"Maybe we should go back to the ferry," Richard muttered. We smiled and nodded at the inhabitants who continued to stare at us dispassionately. We walked slowly back until out of sight of the villagers. Then, we raced to to the dock, through the valley of the dolls, and waited nervously for the ferry that would return us to San Juan.
May I add that sex that night, back at Arcos Blancos, was especially good? Maybe it had something to do with our afternoon scare.
In any event, wishing you all a Happy Halloween!
